    To those interested in the soviet-japanese war of 39, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Khalkhin_Gol , which was key to maintain Japan out of subsequent actions against the Soviet Union and turn its efforts to the south and Pacific area.

    So yeah, these “incidents” where pretty significant to the rest of the world.
