Since we are still on the subject of Crete, the death has been announced of Sir Patrick Leigh Fermor.

Sir Patrick was active on Crete after the invasion and kidnapped the German C-in-C. I saw film of a reunion between General Kreipe and Fermor aired originally on Greek television. They greeted each other like old friends. Fermor translated from Greek to German and back again instantaneously. Quite remarkable.

  4. Henrik Svedang says:

On really seventy years on though. I think the film was shot in the 1980s..
