Sharp frost last night. Beautiful still sunny day, turning rather cold again this evening. Dug some more. Frost has improved the soil considerably. Weeded the patch between the currants & the strawberries, & applied lime. (Paid Titley 6d for about 7-10 lb lime). After this has been turned in the patch can lie fallow till June, when it will do for winter greens. Sowed marrows & pumpkins in pots. NB. that marrows are in the pots nearest the road.
19 eggs. 1 double egg. Sold 2 score @ 2/- (reduced price). Total this week: 115.
RAF Bomber Command ends its leaflet (“Nickel”) raids over German occupied Europe. Since September 3, 1939 about 65 million leaflets and “newspapers” have been dropped.
I wonder if Blair (current age: 35) knows yet, that he’s leaving next month. I wonder what he’s going to do with all those eggs.
I’m sorry, he’s 36.
… not to mention his winter greens.
